National Black Family Day

The impetus for National Black Family Day came on May 5, 1987 when William Gray III, a Congressman from Pennsylvania, entered a tribute to JJOA into Congressional Record as the organization embarked upon a Black Family Day of Celebration. The focus was on the needs of children in Africa through a partnership with Africare. Now, Jack and Jill focus on the cultural heritage of African American families.
